The ink, containing wax, changes colour irreversibly when reaching the temperature at which they are calibrated. This allows to verify if the part or surface has reached the temperature needed in the process because the colour change is permanent.

Temperature pencils are an alternative to adhesive heat-sensitive labels when the temperature to be controlled is higher than 290ºC.

Heat-sensible pencils are available in 3 temperature ranges and, in some cases, they can make more than one colour change:

  • Ref.120:
    • 120ºC / (248ºF) from light grey to violet
  • Ref.245:
    • 245ºC / (473ºF) from orange to black
    • 335ºC / (635ºF) from black to light grey
    • 505ºC / (941ºF) from light grey to white
  • Ref.600:
    • 600ºC / ( 1112ºF ) from light green to white

Supply: Box with 10 units

Dimensions: 7.5 cm long

Type: Irreversible with simple or multiple change depending on the range.

Wax-based pencils with heat-sensitive pigment that makes a simple-type or multiple-type colour change. It should be considered that not only temperature acts in the pigments in these pencils, but also the time of exposure to that temperature. For this reason, procedures should be adapted depending on the time of exposure. Please, contact our technicians if you have any doubt.

If the colour change is produced:

  • Between 1-2 seconds,  the temperature matches the calibration temperature of the pencil.
  • Instantly, the temperature is higher than the calibration temperature.
  • After 2 seconds, the temperature is lower than the calibration temperature.

Requirements of use for these pencils to work appropriately:

  • It is recommended that the surface is between 30-50ºC for its application: this is because the pencil is made of wax and if the surface has not been pre-heated, it will not paint correctly.
  • It is important that the calibration temperature of the pencil is reached within 10 minutes. A temperature close to the calibration temperature should be kept for 10 minutes. From that point on, the pencil starts changing colour. Consequently, these pencils work appropriately in quick heating processes of less than 10 minutes.

Accuracy of this product is +/- 5ºC

Made according to ISO 9001 standard.

Temperature pencils meet standard RoHS 3 (EU2015/863), WEE and Reach, with regard to effects to the environment and public health.

Likewise, components in the heat-sensitive pencils are not included in the California Proposition 65 and SVHC lists.
